To contribute to the progress of society, based on the Susumu Group's code of conduct, we continuously evaluate labor, human rights, ethics, and quality as well as risks to the environment。
To be trusted by every stakeholder as a law-abiding company, we perform business while always observing relevant laws, corporate ethics, company rules, and others. Specifically, we set up our ‘Code of Conduct’ to educate all employees and raise awareness in respect for human rights, prohibition on harassment, response to antisocial forces, fair trade, proper accounting, information disclosure, management of confidential information, and others. We also have a whistleblowing system and call for the use of the system by employees.
The utilization rate of paid leave is as high as 75 percent due to thorough control of overtime hours and by placing it on the agenda at the weekly managers’ meetings. We enforce safety and health elements by regular internal checks and improve issues found. By conducting an engagement survey every year, each department sets up measures to practice for improvement. Once every two months, all directors are to meet with the representatives of employees to conduct face-to-face interviews. We still have issues, but our steady efforts like these have certified us as a “company with good standing.”
Susumu is certified with ISO14001. Recognizing the importance of protecting the global environment, we consider our small, sophisticated products with long life spans, materialized with our thin film technology, as environmentally friendly products. Thus, we try to contribute to environmental protection through development, production, and sales. In our new facility at the Obama plant in Fukui prefecture, we introduced hydrogen fuel cells for energy usage. We are taking action to achieve our environmental goals together with the call for energy savings through SDGs (Sustainability development goals by UN) education to employees.
Susumu tries to build trusted relationships with people in the communities of Obama-city, Fukui Prefecture, and Itoigawa-city, Niigata Prefecture so that communities can acknowledge us. For that, we make positive efforts to recruit local people and engage ourselves with activities, such as beach clean-ups in the Itoigawa area or an open company event hosted by Obama Chamber of Commerce and Industry. On Oct. 1, 2022, we signed an agreement with Obama-city to provide personnel, materials, and equipment in a time of disaster, which includes cooperation by dispatching personnel as operating staff to the volunteer center, and the usage of our plant site as an operation base. We will contribute to society and community now and onwards.
On the open company day on August 9, 2023, people including children from the local community came over to the Obama plant.
Susumu set up mid-term goals, such as working hours, paid leave utilization rate, occupational accident cases, harassment cases, female executives’ ratio, reduction rate of energy consumption per unit, employee engagement survey, community contribution activities, and social contribution by new product development. Through PDCA cycle, we try to enhance the whole Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR.)
